6.4.2.2. Managing the attributes of a Geo-Object Type

Registry Administrators can manage the attributes of the Geo-Object Types under the curation mandate of their organization

  1. If needed, expand the Geo-Object Types column on the sidebar by clicking the arrow at the end.\

  2. The Manage Geo-Object Type window will open. Scroll down to the Attributes field and click the + Add button.\

  3. The Add a new attribute window will open. Select the data type of the new attribute you want to add for the Geo-Object Type and fill out all the required fields and any optional fields that are relevant.\

    Data Type

    The data type that defines the type of values for the attribute. Options include text (free text), integer (integer value), decimal (floating value), date, Boolean (yes, no), and term (option based).

    Example: The accuracy of the geographic coordinates could be stored as a term type attribute with the options Low, Medium and High.

    Code

    The unique human readable identifier. The code can be used to determine the uniqueness of an attribute if duplicate display labels exist in the system.

    Example: CHW could be used for a Community Health Worker Geo-Object Type.

    Label (defaultLocale)

    The default display label for the attribute.

    Required

    Label… (for any other locale that is installed in the system)

    Display label for any locales installed in the system. A common geo-registry can have as many locales installed as needed. The system will allow the setting of the display label for each locale.

    Description (defaultLocale)

    The default description for the attribute.

    Description… (for any other locale that is installed in the system)

    Description for any locales installed in the system. A common geo-registry can have as many locales installed as needed. The system will allow the setting of the description for each locale.

    Length (Decimal type only)

    The total number of digits in the number.

    Decimal (Decimal type only)

    The number of digits to the right of the decimal point.

  4. Click the Submit button.

  5. To add another attribute, repeat steps 4 to 6.

  6. Once the custom attributes have been added, click the Submit button in the Manage Geo-Object Type window.

To edit a custom attribute for the Geo-Object Type:

  1. If needed, expand the Geo-Object Types column on the sidebar by clicking the arrow at the end.\

  2. The Edit Attribute window will open. Edit the information as necessary.\

  3. Click the Submit button.

  4. To edit another attribute, repeat steps 4 to 6.

  5. Once the custom attributes are edited, click the Submit button in the Manage Geo-Object Type window.

To delete a custom attribute for a Geo-Object Type:

  1. If needed, expand the Geo-Object Types column on the sidebar by clicking the arrow at the end.\

  2. A message window will appear confirming if you want to delete the attribute. Click the Delete button.\

  3. Once the custom attributes are deleted, click the Submit button in the Manage Geo-Object Type window.
